THE WASHTENAW VOICE

Never have I found such creative fulfillment than I have during my time as Creative Director and Managing Editor at The Voice. Soon after my arrival, I decided to tackle a rebranding for our student publication. We’re a national Pacemaker award newspaper after all, and we were overdue for a sophisticated and modern brand identity to reflect our credibility and commitment to excellence.

Copywriting, reporting, photography, page design, launching a new website from scratch – You name it, I’ve done it. On some occasions, I even did it all at the same time (see ‘Big House, Big Draw’).

In my newsroom, we worship the pica. We pour over every headline and every cutline. We find ways to engage readers with big, strong imagery and meaningful white space – and we design it all within a 48-hour deadline.
